Capital Gains Tax exempt
Whiskey cask investments are exempt from Capital Gains Tax (CGT) in the UK because they are classified by HMRC as “wasting assets”.
A wasting asset is one with a useful life of 50 years or less, and whiskey in a cask is considered to deteriorate or change over time, making it eligible for this exemption.
